Lismore Base Hospital – Current Project

Currently under construction and our second major Health Facility Project for the John Holland Group. We are working again for the old team and enjoying the ride.

With the external signage completed we are moving onto the internal wayfinding.

Moreton Bay Rail Link

The long awaited $1.147 billion Moreton Bay Rail Link project includes seven railway stations and stabling yard at Kippa-Ring. The project also included interpretive and wayfinding signage for the shared walking track and bicycle pathway.

The project was a massive undertaking for our team under the supervision of our Project Manager Brad Goodman over a twelve month period. “One of the best sub-contractors on the Project” – “thanks Morgan we enjoyed working with you ”

Westpac – Various sites

Working exclusively for FDC Construction we are completing the new Westpac 24/7 Banking roll-out on sites as far as Darwin and throughout the State of Queensland.

The challenges we face are the short time frames for fit-outs, usually no more than three days and working amongst a combination of trades to ensure the bank is open for business Monday morning.

Check out the Barry and Dean show at 3 am in the morning during night works in the Brisbane Valley!

Queensland Police, Fire and Ambulance Stations

Since we formed Wood & Wood in 1991 we have completed many State Government signage projects. The State Government law and order portfolio and the Department of Community Services are fitted out with our proprietary sign systems consisting of Iscatex, Paneltex, Infotex and Brailletactile.

In recent times we have converted all fluorescent tube illumination to a low energy, long lasting LED lighting. Energy savings with this new system amount to an 80% improvement with no maintenance work required.

Remora Road “The Hamilton”

A site call found us working again for Os Blacker and his team on this superb Apartment Complex in Hamilton on the Brisbane River. This was a full design and construct package and Phil in our Design Studio did a great job for our Client and we are proud of the results.

Our fabrication team built the main building identity signage and wayfinding pylons entirely out of structural aluminium frames with formed powder coated aluminium panels. LED lighting created a subtle and stunning affect to the building complex at night.

Completed in July 2015 for Forest Meirers Construction and Shayher Group.

Gasworks – Skyring Terrace

Gasworks is one of Brisbane’s best master-planned communities, ideally located just 1.7km from the CBD and set within the impressive 17 hectare Newstead Riverpark precinct. Like the ground-breaking urban transformations of Docklands in Melbourne and Darling Harbour in Sydney, Gasworks is poised to completely revitalise a cleared brownfill site into a vibrant hub of activity – integrating world-leading retail, commercial, residential and civic spaces around the old iconic Gasometer frame.

Our design team incorporated the frame pattern into the signage concepts resulting in a complimentary, clean and contemporary wayfinding solution throughout the complex.

Completed in 2014 for FKP Properties.

Wellcamp Airport Terminal

A super Fast Tracked project just in time for the first Qantas flight from Sydney. Australia’s newest airport, Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport is the aviation gateway connecting Toowoomba and South East Queensland to the world. Developed and operated by global construction company Wagners, Wellcamp Airport is the first greenfield public airport built in Australia in the past 50 years and the nation’s first privately funded public airport.

We built the Flight information display units which are suspended on internal frames attached to the building structure. All Airside and security areas where fabricated and designed to meet the strict Australian Air Services regulations.

Wellcamp Airport is the latest project in a long list of Airport sites completed throughout Queensland including Sunshine Coast, Gladstone, Emerald, Roma, Whitsunday Coast and Moranbah.

Completed in November 2014 for FKG Constructions.

Noosa Crest Resort

A full design and construction project under the management of local and renowned Architect Peter Thompsett. The design included a new logo and style guide along with an entire update of each and every sign at the resort. Most challenging was to achieve a solution for the main resort sign so it could be seen by passing traffic through well established trees on the way down to Hastings Street.

The photograph shown displays a great outcome and the halo illumination with LED lighting looks absolutely stunning at night in typical Noosa style.

Completed in 2014 for Noosa Crest Body Corp and Hutchinson Builders.

G42 Griffith Business School Building

The new seven-storey facility on parkland drive will provide a focal point for teaching and gold coast centered research activities. It will also provide a dynamic backdrop for new initiatives in the MBA and in customised executive education.

This project includes router cut aluminium lettering on a structural frame attached to the fascia of the building at high level.

Completed in February 2014 for Abigroup Contractors.

Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital

Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital opened on 4 November 2013, offering a comprehensive range of inpatient and day services across a wide range of specialties and is owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia’s largest and most respected private hospital operator.

Probably the one job we are most proud of……Working with John Holland and Phillips Smith Conwell Architects on a Project that went almost to the book. The two high level illuminated light boxes presented us with a tricky install task which was completed with the help of a 200 tonne crane with it’s boom at the limits of it’s extension. Our Design Studio created a functional clean suite of sign types which has set the standard for Ramsay Healthcare’s future developments.

We continue to design and construct pylons up to 6 metres in height using an all aluminium internal structural frame and base plate. This method of fabrication ensures an extended life for the sign unit with no risk of corrosion or rust that would otherwise occur using traditional steel materials. The light weight aluminium construction also saves fabrication, transport and installation costs.

Completed in November 2013 for John Holland Construction Qld.

Maroochydore Government Office Building

This 52 million dollar project was a design and construct package.

Designed by award winning architect Chris Klar this magnificent modern office building has a 6 star / Green star rating. Many energy saving features are incorporated. The Building has been designed to maximise energy and water efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a healthy indoor environment. Some of the signage we made from recycled plywood shuttering used to pour the concrete during construction and all paints used were water based.

Completed in August 2011 for Hutchinson Builders.
